    Correct height for screen.

My room is 5.7m long and 3m in height(at the front).
At the front the floor is 200cm higher than the first row of seats(this forms a platform for the speakers and subs). The rear row of seats is 200cm higher than the platform in front(i.e. 400cm higher than the first row of seats).
At what height should I position my screen?
It is a 203cm by 115cm with a diagonal length of 233cm. This is the viewing area.
The PJ is an Optoma HD81. I want the optimal picture I can project.
    Suggestions?
Also what is the suggested viewing height of the eyes?
    Thanks,
    George.

    Jis George.

I did research this when I did mine.

My eyes when seated is the same level as one third from the bottom of the screen.

Not sure if that was the consensus of my research, but it works for me.

    Enjoy

There are really no hard and fast rules about this. However, your screen should be high enough to avoid having anything between you and it obstruct your view.

Having the screen at a height where the bottom edge of the screen is at about eye level somewhat duplicates the effect of being in the front rows of a commercial movie theater. (Higher than that can lead to neck strain unless you are laid back in a recliner.) If the top edge is at eye level, you are in "nose bleed" territory. :>) Somewhere between those levels is probably most comfortable for long term viewing. But that is a matter of individual preference, so if at all possible, it would be a good idea to try the projected image at various levels BEFORE permanently mounting your screen.

What you DON'T say may be held against you...

The bottom of the screen should be approximately 40-48" above the floor in a room with a level floor and several rows of seats. In rooms with theatre seating or only one or two rows, the bottom of the screen should usually be 24-36" above the floor. Evaluate any barriers, and try to make sure that the lower part of the screen will be visible from all seats. An extra drop may be required to position the screen at a comfortable viewing level in a room with a high ceiling.

Thakns for the replies. What I will probably do is project an image onto the wall first before detemining finally where to place the screen.

I need to build the screen in a fixed position as I am enclosing it around with wood panelling. Hope it all works out well.

          George.
