    Ideal Screen height

My room is 5.7m long and 3m in height(at the front).
At the front the floor is 200cm higher than the first row of seats(this forms a platform for the speakers and subs). The rear row of seats is 200cm higher than the platform in front(i.e. 400cm higher than the first row of seats).
At what height should I position my screen?
It is a 203cm by 115cm with a diagonal length of 233cm. This is the viewing area.
The PJ is an Optoma HD81. I want the optimal picture I can project.
    Suggestions?
Also what is the suggested viewing height of the eyes?
    Thanks,
    George.

George there is no formula I know of to calculate this because there's too many variables like how tal your seats are, how tall the average viewer is, etc. You're best bet is cut a large piece of paper or card-board and hang it no the wall with tape. Then sit in the front and the back and see which height is the most comfortable from both places. You should be able to watch without bending your neck and be comfortable for hours. In my theatre, the ceiling in front is 2.3 meters tall and the screen sits 15cm below the cieling.

Here's a handy calculator which helps a lot with screen sizes.

        Platform as a Bass Trap?
        by Griffster
I am getting ready to build a platform for a second row of seats and was wondering if it is possible to use the riser as a bass trap?

I was thinking of cutting holes in the front and back and stuffing between the studs (2X10) with fiberglass insulation.

        It seems somewhere...

Hi everyone, long time (sort of) viewer, first time poster. Great forum!!!

I've done the obligatory searching and think I've found what I want but I would like everyone's opinions.

        I am currently building a 14'6" x 23'6" x 7'8" dedicated home theater. Double...

Speaker placement with a 120" screen
        by zacjones
We're setting up the old theater in a new house, and are running into some speaker placement issues.

If your screen is too big, forcing you to place your mains wider than optimal for your viewing distance, is placing all three L/C/R speakers below the screen an option?

        Practical FPTV Screen size..?
        by Trevor Schell
        Hi!,
I was just measuring up the size of screen I would go with.
The two chioces I had are as follows.

        92"Diagnol (45"x80")
        106" Diagnol (52"x92")

Of course my first choice is the 106". This will actually completely...
