Basic questions regarding a “separates” set-up

Basic questions regarding a “separates” set-up

I’m not entirely sure how this works so please bare with me.

If I have a HT integrated receiver and want to use it as a processor and preamp the wiring would be as follows:

All source signals go to the Pre/Pros the signal leaves through the pre-out connections to the amp/s then the amps (lets say two different power amps) feed the signal directly to the speakers.

    Is that correct?

    A few questions

Where do you adjust for speaker levels the pre/pros or the power amps?
How do you control the master volume amongst the different channels that are controlled by two different amps?

Sorry for the REAL BASIC questions.

    Thanks,
    Mike

The external amps will just be replacing the internal channels in the receiver. You adjust the master volume and individual channel levels from the receiver just as when you are using its internal channels.

        by whmacs
        Hi All,
In preperation for my RSP-1098 arriving next week, I was reading the manual and have a couple of basic setup questions:

        1. I currently use a 12v trigger on my Onkyo to turn on power to my two Rotel power amps. This happens when I power on the Onkyo from Standby mode. Looking...

        Some Basic Sub Questions
        by atm98
I have some questions regarding a sub.

I am looking to add a sub to create my 7.1 system. At first I was going to do an IB. However, my job has me moving next year, so I don’t want to add a large hole in the ceiling (see my ambitions in photo). I am planning to use SS RL-P18.

The problem is I am a college student without the funds of buying any of the electronics. I won't be buying...

I've been really getting into analog, and loving every minute of it.

As I mentioned in the "Turntable Advice" thread, I'm now looking at upgrading. However, there are several very basic questions that are still a little confusing to me. Here are a...

        Basic Calibration Questions
        by EAmin
        Couple of questions:

        1. I calibrate all of my speakers using my processor test tones. My DVD player (Pioneer DV-45a) also has some calibration settings for speaker distance as well as volume level. What do I set my DVD settings to if I've done all of this on the processor?
