    New equipment

Well I just got my new receiver today (new to me..looks brand new though). Its a Yammy RX-V2400, right now its hooked up to my Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1 speakers rather then useing their internal amp. The sound was deffinately improved from the internal amp. The only problem I currently hear is that I think I have a ground loop problem because my sub has a constant hum..... I live in an apartment so I can't really pull out the outlet and look at it. But I had it plugged into another outlet and I don't believe I had the problem. Are there any not so expensive ways to fix this?

Next week I should receive my new speakers which are 2 Klipsch RF-62's and the RC-62 center.

Ok I found some info on it. One of the solutions it looks like it says to cut the negative wire on the extra earthed device? Thats what it seemed to suggest.

You could try putting a cheater plug (3 prong to 2 prong) on one of your components and see if that helps.

Try disconnecting the cable from the cable box and see if the hum stops. If it does, call the cable company and have them fix the grounding on the cable.

It does stop when i disconnect the cable box from the receiver. But I read that ground loops happen when there are 2 different grounds in the connections. So the cable line is grounded to a different source then my outlets.

Have you tried an alligator jumper from the cable box chassis to the receiver chasis? This should bond them to the same potential providing one does not have an isolated grounded chassis.

What you need is a cable RF balun isolator- so that the noisy ground on the cable system is isolated from your system ground.

DO use the search- this problem has been discussed many times for many people.

                Regards,

Well the thread wasn't really about the problem just me talking about the new stuff I've purchased.

Which in the next few months I'll be getting a new T.V, hopefully some sort of next gen dvd player. Building a nice sub few other things like the rear surrounds and what not.

                    Weird hum problem with 1068
                    by Pez
Finally got my 1068 last night and hooked it up, unfortunately there was a pronounced hum coming from all the speakers.

Here is where it gets strange. The outlet I was using was the same outlet I was using with previous equipment and there was no hum then. In fact, the outlet itself...

Lots of hum with new Behringer EP1500 amp...help please.
                    by Dotay
I purchased a Behringer EP1500 amp a couple months ago to run my 15" Avalanche sub but I haven't actually played it since my sub wasn't done yet. I had planned on changing out the fan with a quieter one but it turns out it had a different connector than the one I had bought. Refer to this thre...

                    HELP
I just installed a new Denon 1905 receiver, and installed inwall speakers from HTD (5.1), and all was well.
then, i installed my subwoofer using a shielded cable. the cable runs under the house, and as soon as i installed it, all of the speakers had a slight hum, that grows worse...

Ground Loop Hum and the RSP-1066
                    by Daymond
Just got a 1066 and I am having a problem with what I think is Ground Loop Hum. I have the unit hooked up to a Monster PowerCenter HTS-3500MkII which is plugged in to a grounded outlet with all of my other components. I then disconnected the other components leaving only this processor plugged in along...

                    by Boone38
Hello all, I have read this before and do not remember the answer. I just bought a new 1068 and 1075. I have the B & W 601.3 with a Velodyne HGX12 sub.
Everything that I can tell is hooked up correctly. Problem is that I have a low
hum out of both channels. Not out of the center. When...
