    Panasonic DMP-BD10 Blu-Ray

    Hey Guys...

I've just spent the last week putting the new Panny Blu-Ray player through its paces. If any of you are interested, here's my official review:

    http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...d.php?t=243666

In short... the Panny is teriffic. Has anyone else from the forum made the leap and tried out the Panny yet?

    Gracias!

    Drsiebling,

That was a great review. However, until the HD DVD dust settles, I'm going to stick with my Pio 59AVi. This Panny certainly merits consideration though.

    Peace and blessings,

    Azeke

Ditto! Looking forward to the day when I'm comfortable jumping into the high-def discs, though.

Yeah, sometimes I feel myself weakening when I see those shiny new HD DVD and Bluray discs on display, but I just say to myself, " No, wait it out, or you'll end up buying two freakin' players. "

:agree: I had the toshiba comming and Canx the order! My trusty old single disk DVD player will work till these guys figure out what is up.

            Here is what I want.....

Bill Gates to make a "universal DVD player that plays both HD, and blue-ray" Then let them make what ever disc they want and we can watch them both!
The Bitterness of poor quality last longer than the joy of low prices.

              Greetings,

I have entered the fray. I have both the DMP-BD10 and the Toshiba HD-A1. I agree regarding your thoughts on the Panasonic.

Thought you were looking to buy a PS3? Not even going to pick up one disc with the Sony just to try it?

Yeah, still thinking about the PS3. The wife REALLY does NOT want me to get one--worried about my time usage. (understandable) And there's also the issue of availability of units when they first come out. I'd really like to get one, but I'd have to find one first!!!

If I do get a PS3, then like many other people, that will be my entrance into the world of high-def discs. So if I get one, you BET I'll be picking up some BD's to try it out. U2's Rattle and Hum would be one of the first on my list. :T

I have to get one at some point too. No other way to play Ratchet & Clank 5. And that's just not acceptable.

                      Nice review.

I've also been tempted by the run of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players.
I was in a focus group to review to Samsung Blu-Ray player and it definitely looked better than the HD-mastered DVD that was running the same movie next to it (with the same plasma display).

But having two strong formats, and different content providers in both camps, having a limited collection of HD titles, and the early adopter price premium all are keeping me at arm's length from these new cool high def DVDs.

I am considering getting a PS3, with it's built-in Blu-Ray player. But I'm looking at somewhere around 6 months+ from now, after the Xmas frenzy (and artificially boosted prices) dies down.

I'm also expecting to see HD-DVD drives available, with playback software like Power DVD on the PC platform for less than $250 in the same timeframe.

So I can see myself supporting both hidef DVD platforms with a gaming system and HTPC by mid-'07. I certainly have enough quality looking content to watch between HD-mastered regular DVDs and HD-Tivo recordings in the meantime.
