AV synch? Needed or not?

Hello,
I see a lot of receivers/pres have an av synch. I don't have one on my Denon 3801 but am upgrading this week to something else...
I am curious if this is really an important feature. I have lived a long time without it and one of the units I am looking at (Sherbourn Pre PT-7010A) does not have it, though it has some other features I am interested in. Any thoughts on the AV synch. Who uses it and how well does it work?

You should only need to use it if you're doing some sort of processing on your video that introduces lag. Personally I try to have as little as possible processing touch my video signals and recommend turning off as many "features" on your display as possible (VSM, colour/contrast "enhancing" :roll: , noise reduction etc). Which should only leave you with a chance of video lag if you're using some sort of external video processor/scaler and some of those allow for audio sync/delay as well

It sounds like a rarely used feature. To date I don't think I have ever had a problem without it, but one of those things to look at when comparing and purchasing.
