    Looking for good in-wall speakers

    Hello,
Planning my HT and looking for high quality HT in-wall speakers. I really like the clean look of in-walls, bu do not want to sacrifice performance. Am looking at 7.1 with a budget of about $3,000 - $3,500.

    Any and all suggestions welcome.

    Thanks

M&K makes a full set of in-walls. Their top of the line 150s might suit your needs.

Look no further than Triad. Most custom installers deal in these. They are the very best in wall I've heard.

In Ceiling wise, I like Paradigm but I wouldn't use those in a HT.

        Recommendations in no particular order:

        1) Thiel PowerPoint 1.2 & SCS3 if you have the right room dimensions
        2) Triads
        3) Dali Helicon IWS3
        4) Phase Techs CI-20VII
        5) Polk Audio LC65i

I'm partial to the Thiel PP1.2s. Good luck.

        Peace and blessings,

        Azeke

The highest opinions I've heard on in-walls have been with Triad and KEF.

              Guys,
Have you heard of / hear Axiom speakers? I may scrap the in-walls and go with floorstanding fronts and center, then 4 wall mounted surrounds.

Any feedback on Axiom? Looking at the Epic 80 600 series (7.1). Whaddya think?

Heheheeee... ah, yes, here it comes. The old "well, what if I leave the idea of in-walls (or some other form-limiting product design) and go to the next level". Sure, I'd highly consider it.

I do know that people are happy with KEF and Triad in-walls, even when compared to floorstanding, but I think you do have to pay for them.

                  Chris,
I have. They made my ears bleed they were so bright. YMMV.

Shane, sorry for the dumb question, but what exactly does "bright" mean? Also, YMMV??

                    Thanks

Bright/shrill means the highs have extra sibilance to them. Typically S's are like SSSSSS's. After a while it leads to ear fatigue(for me). Some ears can't even hear up to the point where a bright speaker will matter to them. Usually it's older folks(50+) that have this issue. Sometimes not.

It just depends on what kind of sound you like. IF you don't know, you need to grab some music and figure that out first.

YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary.
