    Bluray when?

Has anybody heard when bluray players and related media will ship? I can't seem to find any information regarding this. I know Sony is lauching the PS3 sometime in the the 1st half of 2006 so I figured the dvd players would follow around then.

I'm thinking of purchasing a new dvd player that can scale to 720p/1080i but if there's any indication that bluray players are on the horizon (4-6 months) then I think I might just hold off a bit.

Unless you get a PS3 and use that as the player the first generation of BlueRay or HD-DVD's are going to cost you a pretty penny. Not to mention the problems. Get yourself a new player and when they get all the quirks worked out with BlueRay then get one of those players and retire your other player to the bedroom or kids.

The last I heard PS3 was early 2007 depending on how successful the 360 is. If it's successful, they'll bring out the ps3 earlier.

I originally heard they were planning for May - June 2006, but that was way back, I'm not sure if they've had a scheduling change since then.

Although, I am slightly digressing here, I am providing a link FAQ for Blue Ray, that I found interesting.

Does PS3 decode DTS MA ?
            by bleeding ears
I see that some blueray discs have DTS MA audio whilst others have DD HD audio.

I was told by a salesperson that the PS3 does not process DTS MA, does anyone know if it does ?

            1058 with bluray dvd
            by lxgreen
I recently purchased a 1058 and want to use it with a new 1058p tv and bluray dvd. Since the 1058 does not have HDMI 1.3 to optimize the audio/video in blueray technology, the dealer told me i could get the best audio by setting up the dvdplayer with 6 multichannel cables to the 1058 and then use an...

I like to share some of recent experience with my new 3D TV setup with my current Rotel RSP1098/RMB1095 setup. I am hoping this information is useful for anyone with the same configuration out there that are interested to take the 3D plunge.

            Bluray Audio Format Confusion
            by Johnloudb
Okay, all these different audio formats have always confused me. On the back of this Jeff Beck Bluray disc "Live at Ronnie Scotts" it lists the audio format as LPCM stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS HD Master Audio.

LPCM (Lossless Pulse Code Modulation) Stereo, is...
