    Starting help-purpose if insulation????

    Hey,
Her is my question, I am building a new HT starting at zero. I don't care about sound in escaping into the rest of the house, so which if any of these thigs are not needed? Thanks

    1) raised floor with insulation.

    2) insulation over concrete walls under drywall. (or is v-math a bad thing?)

    3) insulation in ceiling.

    4) solid core doors.

    Any help would be great.

      Brac, Welcome to the Guide.

Although you may not be too concerned about sound escaping out of the room, but you should still address the quality of sound sustained inside the room. Insulating a concrete wall is not a bad thing (to cut down on echos and high feq. bouncing all over the place).

Your # 1 and #4 maybe items you could save on but the rest I'd do for sure.

Worried about my concrete block/mortar wall
        by SteveL
I've got a good jump on my dedicated HT construction, but now I'm starting to worry about things... I'm building the HT in my basement, and it will have finished dimensions of 15' W x 21' D x 8.5' H.

The "front" of the HT will be on the "wall" of my house that is...

        Statements Foam vs. Insulation
        by Mrpictureman
As I am finishing up my boxes for my big Statements and 2RCC build the question begs which way to go, foam or insulation? I have read through all of the posts and have been unable to find any definitive answer, foam or insulation? I do know some were concerned about the health issues of insulation....

        Acoustic Panels using R13 Insulation?
        by Club1820
OK. I know that the best option would be to buy Acoustic Panels from a manufacturer such as Real Traps. Or if DIY, then using Corning 703 insulation.

But who knows if I would ever get around to either one of these options. So, since my basement was recently finished, including...

Concrete Vault Home Theater - Lots of questions

I recently finished building our new house, and am now getting ready to finish construction on the theater below the garage. The three car garage floor is a 3" concrete slab on top of wood framing, and under that is a 8'7" high space with a poured concrete slab, that houses the house mechanicals...
