How Does the Lexicon MC-1 Rate at This Point in Time?

I had the hots for the MC-1 several years ago, but couldn't see spending $2,000 for one. Used ones are down to $1,200 or less (V4). I know it doesn't have the latest DACs and some other features like auto EQ, video switching, DPLIIx and more.

I like tone controls and the Lexicons have plus/minus 6 db, tilt control, loudness. That seems pretty flexible.

Is it worth buying a used one for a little over $1,000?

If it's for pure movie watching, You'd be hard pressed to beat an MC-1. Logic 7 is the bomb :crush:

This would not be for movies only. I understand that for music the MC-1 is at least a bit lacking. If I input a digital signal from my CD player will the MC-1's DACs come into play?

The few Proceed AVP2 I saw are going for $2,000 plus.

Everything gets digitized anyway. I believe there is a work around but it didn't seem easy.

If I am not mistaken, you used to use an MC-1 and now use an MC-12. What do you think of the MC-1 for $1,000?

As the others mentioned for movies the MC1 is hard to beat for movies. For music though it lacks 5.1 inputs so DVD-A and SACD are out of the question and its internal DAC's aren't known for being that musical. There are ways around that with analog pre amps like the TAP-9000ES but that adds to the expense and you quickly loose the appeal. I was considering them as well before I went Rotel but I just couldn't give up the music.
