    Bryston SP1.7 vs Proceed AVP2+6

    Hello all,

I am looking for comments on these two processors. I have read the proceed avp2 has great DACs and can make a low end CD player sound awesome. I was wondering if the Bryston has the ability too.

I would love to hear anybody's thoughts. Thanks.

Absolutely....the Bryston is known for their awesome DACs. Even better is that in the 1.7 is essentially the reknown BP-25 pre-amp section which consistently garners rave reviews/awards. The Bryston is an awesome unit for certain.

The bryston 1.7 is just an awesome piece of equipment, well worth every dollar. If your in northern california, you are more than welcome to take a listen for yourself.

At its price point, the 1.7 and the Arcam are hard to beat.

The Proceed is proabably better for HT but too bad the support is not as good as Bryston.

Your choice depends on what else you have/use.

            I would take either.

I thought Proceed was purchased by Harman Int'l and folded into Mark Levinson and is no longer a product line, no?

Proceed was bought by Madigral which ended the line. However the AVP2 received alot of the same electronics that goes into the Levinson #40. So that is why it is highly sought after. However, the support issue worried me since the line is discontinued. Madigral says they still support it, but no upgrades will be available.

I chose the Bryston sp1.7 ... 20 year warranty and future support and upgrades.
