    Pro-logic IIx steering problems.

Hey all, wondering if you could help me with a little problem?

I have a Denon 1705. When I use it in DPL2X the right and left stereo channels randomly are directed to the rear speakers (5.1 setup) leaving the front stereo channels naked. I have noticed it with videogames and TV. Haven't tried VHS...and I don't know if I ever will...

Is this a problem inherent with dpl2x?

Any help/suggestions/whatever would be groovy. :T

    Akuza,

    I don't believe so.

Do you have your receiver set for 7.1, in the menu (esp., center backs)?

It is set for 5.1. It is in PLII mode really, not PLIIx.

        Akuza,

Check your Settings for Panarama and Dimension for Dolby Prologic IIx - I

PANORAMA: The Panorama option extends the front stereo image to include the surround speakers for a dramatic “wraparound” effect. The options are OFF or ON.
DIMENSION: The Dimension option allows you to gradually adjust the soundfield towards the front or towards the rear. There are seven incremental settings from 0 to 6. A setting of 0 shifts the soundfield towards
the rear for maximum surround effect. A setting of 6 shifts the soundfield to
the front for minimum surround effect. The default setting of 3 provides a “neutral” balance between the two extremes.
So if you have Panarama = On and Dimension =0 you will get the effect you are describine - Have Panarama on and Dimension 3 and you wll get a better result.

        Regards

        Geoff

          Hi,

DPL IIx is about to ship for the RSP-1098, RSP-1068 and RSX-1067 (hopefully this weekend). However It has been frustrating for many of us waiting for DPL IIx with the will they or wont they rumours and misinformation. Indeed, in some other forums there have been some quite angry threads

          Best Speakers for Denon 1705
          by marshahu_cr
Long time no see. Good to be back here again.

I am basically aiming for a budget 6.1 Home Theater solution with a DVD Audio and SACD player. I am intending to use this setup to output positional audio from EAX 4 compatible PC Games so 6.1 is essential - the more the better! So far I have...

Secret's has just posted a very good article that goes a long way in explaining how it works and compares it with other formats. A pretty good read if you get a chance.

          ProLogic IIx degredation?
          by Rolyasm
Anyone know what happens to the sound quality when a receiver converts a 5.1 signal into a 6 or 7.1 ProLogic IIx? Does the sound quality suffer? Will my 5.1 sound the exact same, only now I have the rear surrounds as well? Only reason I ask is my friend has a 6.1 speaker configuration and he had...

          prologic IIx with DTS
          by Jon SS
I am finally moving from 5.1 to 7.1. Does prologic IIx work with DTS? I read the C2 manual and it seems to work with DTS except DTS-ES? DTS-ES will work with THX Ultra Cinema (5.1 to 7.1) but I need to figure out the placement of my rears and dolby and thx placement is quite different. I am leanind...
