    Secret's has just posted a very good article that goes a long way in explaining how it works and compares it with other formats. A pretty good read if you get a chance.

      I agree with nearly everything said there...except the requirement for 7.1 over 6.1. IMO a lot depends on the width of the room. For example my room is only 12 feet wide so there's really no need to have 2 rear speakers back there.

          From a news release I just saw of the first receiver, (Onkyo) with the new Dolby Pro Logic IIz technology that extracts to 9.1 channels. I chased down this technology report on the Dolby website. Very interesting.
