Is this an optimal way to connect my HT?

First, here is my equipment for my 5.1 home theater:

NEC 50XR4
Yamaha RX-V2500
Panasonic DVD S-97
DirecTV HD receiver, probably a Samsung H10
M&K Power subwoofer - V75 MK2
B&W DM601’s (2) Fronts
B&W CC6 center channel
NHT IC3 rears, ceiling mounted

Here's how I intend on connecting it all up.
Satelite receiver to Plasma (Video) - Component cables
Satelite receiver to Yamaha receiver (Audio) - Fiber Optic cable
DVD player to Plasma (Video) - HDMI/DVI conversion cable, needed for
upconversion (sat receiver will upconvert using component cables, correct?)
DVD player to Yamaha receiver (Audio) - Fiber Optic cable
Speakers are pretty straightforward so I won't go into that.

What do you experts think? Is this optimal, or is there a better way? All of the interconnects mentioned are relatively highend.

Coax Digital

MaxTimeOff,

I tend to use coax digital as my connection for digital audio. My experience is that it is more dynamic than optical connections. You have this option with the RXV-2500. Hope this helps.

I'd use coax digital for your dvd player but your HD sat receiver will likely be optical only. Just make sure you get a good one with good connectors on it.

So far I think your connection diagram looks good.

Ya.....coax digital has a higher bandwidth. Optical still sounds really good but its suceptable to jitter.
