    overdriven receiver?

    Problem with RSX-1057

I was watching HEAT on Blu-ray and half way in, the receiver went quiet except for the LFE. I put a fan on the receiver to cool it down and it started back up.

Problem is only the center channel seems to have the same dynamic range when in 5 channel mode. In stereo the fronts are fine as well.

Any idea as to what would make it sound flat? I ran the avia DVD for audio calibration and all things sound fine?

It is like this for both Satelite via optical cable, and blu-ray via analog cables?

Any ideas what it might be? It is still under waranty. It reall just seems flat no other symptoms.

a fuse? a processor problem? A blown capacitor?

No ideas out there? Well I called a Rotel repair shop they are thinking it might be a mosfet or a bridge issue. I guess I am going to have to send it off....

...but I am an absolute novice on HT so I am looking for advice on setting up a contemporary entry level HT system utilizing HDMI. The room size is 14'x22' but seating is 12' from screen.

New receiver with vintage speakers sounds terrible
          by ctc
While my budget won't allow for the high level of equipment I see discussed in this forum, I can still appreciate good quality sound and would like to buy the best that I can afford.

I have a pair of 3-way floorstanding Marantz speakers series 50/500 with 1-3/4" tweeters, 4"...

Hi - I've trumbled through most of the threads here - amazing stuff!

I'm in the middle of a wall reconstruction project (for a 43' Pioneer Elite plasma - to be hung on the wall, all wiring will be in wall) and I've become thoroughly confused along the way while researching the rest of...

Is a perfectly flat frequency response always a good thing?
          by fjhuerta
          Hi all!

After more than half a year of playing around with my Nat-P's, I finally found a network that made them perfectly flat. Gone are the peaks and valleys, and they are replaced by a perfectly flat on-axis response.

          But...

I told my wife to give me her...

Finishing Touches for a Flat Finish?
          by ratchetfps
I'm driving towards the tail end of my mini statements project, and am hoping some experienced masters can help me get to the finish line.

Right now I am trying to decide what final steps I should take to get a really nice flat finish. Here's what I've already done:
