    Zenith dvb318 Sound Quality?

Hi Guys, I've been reading a lot of reviews from you people about how good this dvd player's video performance is. Can anyone tell me about the sound quality. I've haven't heard of anyone talking about the sound. I would like to know on cd and dvd. I want to buy a dvd player soon.
    Thanks,
    Rob

It's OK on digital pass through, but the analog out is somewhat lifeless and a bit dull on the top. Not to say that you can't enjoy a movie OK that way; just don't expect it to compete with good pre-pro. A $75 Sony DVD player I picked up at CostCo is better on CD reproduction through the PCM out, IMO.

The only "cheap" DVD player I've heard recently on analog out that supprised me a bit with analog quality is the Oppo DVP971; still, it's no Benchmark DAC1, but it's quite respectable for the price ($200), and a firmware upgrade reportedly will enable true DVD-A functionality. It does have 24/192 DACs.

I agree mostly. It sounds good to me on digital out for HT; so-so on PCM stereo. I have another CD player for use with music that sounds better. Having said that, I bought this thing for $80 so I'm pretty pleased with it.

Forgive me if this sounds to basic... I've researched this and cannot exactly find the answer that will satisfiy me.

        1) I just bought an Arcam DVD 78 player that does not have DVD-A capability. However, I bought a DVD-A music title last night and played it on my Arcam. According to the...

        Progressive DVD/Laserdisc Player?
        by Dave D
        Hi all,

Does a DVD/LD combo player exist which supports progressive scan? It appears that my Pioneer DVL-909 DVD/LD player has become the weak link in my chain (so to speak). But Pioneer's latest DVL-919 (ca. 1999) still doesn't appear to support progressive scan. Granted, I could...

        DVD/DVD-A Player Recommendations
        by Bluespower
I know this topic has been beaten to death but I really wouldn't mind hearing a few recommendations as I begin my quest (again). I'm in the market for a DVD/DVD-A player with audio quality being the prime consideration (a "universal" player with SACD could be considered even though I don't...

        Sony's VR-format compatible DVD-ROM player

I'm looking for VR-mode compatible DVD-ROM compatible player for my PC. I bought the Sony mini DVD-R video camera couple of months ago. Those let you record video in "Video" and "VR" formats. My DVD-ROM player in the PC doesn't seem to support the VR format.
