Denon 1905 Zone2 Speaker Out does not work

    My Configuration is as follows

    Speaker Configuration

    Front Sp Large
    Center Sp Large
    Surround Sp None
    Subwoofer No

    24 AUTOSURR. ON

    26 AMP ZONE2

I have a pair of speakers in Zone 2 room. I connected the speakers L/R wires
to Surround Back/Zone 2 speaker outputs. I then selected the source to
be played on Zone2 using the front dial. Then I switched on the Zone 2
from the Remote and the Zone 2 light on the front panel lights up, but
I dont hear any sound from the Zone 2 speakers. I increased the Master
Volume and still I dont hear anything.

I tried to troubleshoot the problem by doing the following

    1) To make that Zone 2 speakers does really work. I connected the
Zone2 speakers to the A(Main) speaker plugs and I was able to hear them
fine on my zone 2 speakers. This proved that the connection to the
    Zone 2 speakers are fine.

    2) Next to verify if the amp is outputting any signal. I changed my speaker
configuration and said I have Surround back 2 speakers. 1905 allows to use the
two speaker outputs for Zone 2 or as Surround Back channesl in a 7.1 configuration. The option 26 allows the amplified to configure the speaker outs.
    I used the Test
Tone and it did produce a hissing sound on Front left/right, center,
surround back left and right. I also played a CD in 5/7ch mode and I was
able to hear on the Zone 2 speakers.

    3) Finally, I wanted to make sure that the receiver was outputiing some
signal on the line level Zone 2 out. So I conncted Zone 2 out (variable/fixed)
to the Tape input. I selected CD source for Zone 2 and I was able to listen
Tape input on the Main room.

I followed the manual (cryptic) and I think I must be missing something. Iam
unable to contact Denon tech support. I think I must be missing something, I
    would greatly appreciate any help.

    Thanks in advance.

    Denon No Zone 2 sound

I had the same frustrating problem on the 3805. Here's what I found out.

    1) Zone 2 must be turn "on". The 1905 might not have this feature so it might not be that big of deal and is probably not your problem.

    2) Zone 2 will not output a digital signal (this was not in the manual as I could see), meaning that you will need to run the analog inputs from your CD player and DBS, etc. Once you have done that you should have sound in zone 2.

Good Luck and let's us know if that worked.

Also the zone two volume could be set on variable so you would have to select zone 2 on the remote and increase the volume from there not the master.

      Good Luck

Actually I went and got the unit replaced and I need to see if it works now.

        - In 1905 you turn on the Zone 2 from the remote and once you do that Zone 2
red light comes up on the front panel. Then I change the remote to Zone 2
and select the "Tuner" as the source and using the remote changed the
        volume.

        - From my DVD player I have 2 RCA cables going to "CD" input and a Digital
Optical cable going to DVD optincal input. For testing the Zone 2 speaker
output I was only trying with the "Tuner" and the "Tape" input.

        - The only thing I can think of at this point, I might have kept the Remote in
Main Zone, when I turned on Zone 2. Maybe it expects that I should only
turn on Zone2 when the remote is also in Zone2.

Thanks for the response. Will post back the status after I setup the new one.

I setup the new unit the same way the as before and zone 2 works. I could
listen to Tuner, CD and Tape sources fine on Zone 2 speaker out.

Before I turned on Zone 2 from the remote. I switched the remote to Zone 2
          (by sliding the switch).

I also tried switching on Zone 2 with the remote set to Main zone and that
          also works.

          Thanks
