Good luck with the move, John. But I do see that you are staying in the warmer climes. 8)

In a few more weeks I'll be wishing I was soaking up some of that Southern heat that Tex and John will be enjoying.

Since it is August, it is relatively warm in Canada, too. I don't think George meant that it isn't already hot in Texas -- rather that in a few weeks it's going to be getting pretty darned COLD where he is (happens every year in Canada, according to reliable sources) :>) and at that time he'll wish he had some of the heat we "enjoy" so much here in Texas. But I could be wrong. Maybe he's thinking of moving down here, too. :>)

Thanks for the "warm" wishes everyone! :B

My wife has been there (texas) for 6 months and constantly tells me, it is so hot! Which is saying something coming from pensacola,fl.

Lex, your moving to the sun statement may not be far off!!! :T

And yes NMYTREE, this packing sucks! I forgot just how many small and breakable items we actually own.

Burke, you got it right. I was referring to how cold it will be getting up here in Canada in a few weeks. BTW, that reliable soource is correct.

I remember an October day in Texas that gave me a sunburn. Heck yeah, it's HOT.

Sunburn in October. So? :scratchhead: :B

Hey, here in southeast Texas, we generally wear T-shirts and shorts on Christmas. Some people like to be dressy and go with a formal T-shirt, but hey. . . to each their own. North Texas can be damn cold tho'.

Well, coming from Wisconsin and the last time you can get a sunburn is in June (o.k. July), it was a shock. And you are certainly right my Texan friend, I was playing basketball OUTSIDE in January (t-shirt & shorts mind you) ... try doing that in the land of the 'frozen tundra' without a couple of 6-packs under your belt!

Now just stop it you guys. Why I am beginnin' to have a hankerin' for a little bit of Texas. An old Publishing associate of mine has a winter place in Brownsville. Been thinkin' of paying him a visit one of these winters. 8)

Jimmy, tell me about it. You HAVE to be in shorts to exercise for most of the winter here.

George, Brownsville is another couple of hundred miles to the south of Houston (down in the Rio Grande Valley area) and it stays rather warm down there for the entire year.

John and his family will have a bit of acclimating to do this summer - unfortunately.

Granted it's been a long time since I was in Texas (1976 to be exact) when I was in the military but San Antonio was the only military post where in the summertime, a GI did NOT have to wear a t-shirt underneath their uniform top because it was so god-awful hot and humid. Not sure if today this is still the case but it is brutal. Thank heavens I didn't have to be in San Antonio during the summer.

Well John, enjoy! I have a friend that I knew when I was stationed with him in the military that retired in San Antonio and loves it. I loved it to back then and I understand it is really an awesome place to be now.

John, it sounds like it's a good thing that you got out of Pensacola when you did. (I assume you left already?) And it's Austin that you're going to? Nice. Hope that works well for you?

Me, I move every 3-4 years, being in the military. In the past 7 and a half years, I've moved 5 times. It's not fun at all, but you get better at it with practice.

Hills? Obviously George, you haven't been to Houston. There are NO hills here. Period. Unless you count the drop in elevation for a creek or bayou. :B

Now, the rest of Texas is another story. In fact John is going to be in the southern part of "the hill country" region.

                                                      Hello all!

Yes David, I now be a Teaxan!!! :B

I've been here since the 5th of september. I have not been online because my pc is has serious issues. Sorry to have taken so long letting you guys know that all went well.

So far, I really like being here. The food is fantastic! And the people seem down to earth.

I'll still be out of the net until I get my computer fixed. Hopefully that won't be too long. So you guys have a great time and I'll chat at you soon (I hope).

John, I knew Texas had experienced explosive population growth the past few years, with significant urban sprawl as a result. But I didn't realize until I saw your "Location" just now (a couple of months after your move) that Pensacola, Florida must now be a suburb of some Texas city. :>)
