Sessions on West 54th opinions?

Anybody got input on this DVD disc? What is the general style of the disc? Quality of recording? Material?

Note, forgive me if I messed up the title, but I am sure you know the disc, from my name if it's a little off. I couldn't remember if West was in the title.

Lex its called Sessions at West 54th. I've listened to it and its pretty good with a diverse range of tallent on it. If you're looking for it I know Jeremy Santos has a copy for trade

Um yeah, I know Andrew That's why I was looking for some input on it. I am trying to determine if it's something I want. First off though, I am not so much a DVD music person outside of DTS, and not sure whether this is a DTS disc. I find that when I want music, I usually play CDs. I guess I am funny that way! lol.

Well you're not alone on that one lex I havne't bought any music DVD's for that very reason. I've got a few songs on the various DTS demo discs and the Hotel California is cool to demo to people but if I want to hear the song I always listen to the CD.

Sessions at West 54th is probably the best recorded DD 5.1 disc made so far, well, at least in the top 5; there have been a few contenders of late. The music is varied enough that you will probably find many to your tastes. It is worth it in whole though, just for the multichannel recording quality.

I agree with John; the disc is great. The overall recording quality is very, very good and many of the surround mixes are excellent. That's what sets this one apart. Most of the 5.1 music stuff I've heard sounds like the engineer just received his own "My First Joystick" for xmas. The mixes here are very tasteful for the most part. Some are outstanding. Possibly the best one (IMHO) is the Suzanne Vega cut. Not my favorite artist from the disc by a long shot. But it's a nice example of 5.1 music could /should be.

Get the disc, you won't be sorry.
