Well, to put it in a word, fabulous for nod & a wink not only myself but alot of people that i,ve played it for (we have music parties once a week MELLOW ONES) feel that its thier best output to date. To answer your question are they still together? no, Andrew put this cd together with some new help. You would swear the original band were playing though! As for your other question luner sea is an anthology that spans from 1973 through 1985 To let you know all of thier material has been remastered superbly on cd. Our parties span from easy listening like mark cohn & bruce cockburn to the jayhawks to nektar :P

CD Universe has two imports of Lunar Sea available, a British (a re-master) and a Japanese version. The British is $26 and the Japanese is $50! 8O Have you heard them both? If so, which would you recommend?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you David, somtimes i,ve got to go & be a finish carpenter . I just got in a bit ago. Yes I,m almost 50 3 more weeks. Anyway, pertaining to your question about Camels Lunar Sea, the one & only copy I,ve heard is the one on Decca #8829952 the recording quality of this is really good. I can see that you are a bit of a fan of Nektar! I will tell you that i,ve been a fan of this group for many years. Theyve finally released most of thier material on cd which I am in the process of getting :!: I bet that you are also a fan of Jade Warrior ! anyway I hope this helps & don,t forget A NOD & A WINK ! :P

Back to Nektar & Jade Warrior, What is your impression of these two progressive bands :?:

Well, Nektar started out sounding like a cross between early Pink Floyd and Yes, with extended songs containing lots of on-going guitar riffs. They changed with Down To Earth to a more (I hate this word) mainstream approach with shorter songs and a more melodic focus. I heard at some point they even had a brass section? Weird thought. I still like listening to them though.

Jade Warrior is farther off the beaten path than Nektar. It sounds like they have differing influences from song to song (depending on who wrote it, maybe?), that can range from spacy rock-oriented music to almost a Latin flavored rock. They are harder to get a good handle on - at least on the albums I have. These days, I like them somewhat, but I can't say that I like them a lot any more. At times they sound like they are just stringing rythmic noises together.

Dave, what about you? Same interpretations or different?

Just a tip: I found the same imports of Nod & a Wink and Snow Goose, both new, at Ebay for the same price as Nod & a Wink goes for alone at Amazon, including the cost of shipping. This ended my dilemma of which of these two to get.

One final note about this band........ Camel puts forth a tremendous amount of emotion in the music they play. In general I find myself listening to a new cd about 5 times before I can really get a feel for what the artist is trying to get across. With Camel the same applys however I find myself being more involved with the intricate passages that they perform with each time I hear them. I hope some of you will get a chance to experience this music in the future & give me you,re comments. Thanks.
