    Recommendation for Big Band, Swing?

With some of the audio talk lately, I'm in the mood for some really good Big Band and/or Swing music.

    Recommendations?

Blues in Orbit by Duke Ellington swings. Not a bad song in the bunch. Also, if you want a quick fix, buy or download a song called Gal From Joe's. I'd suggest the Johnny Hodges version.

If you want a more powerful big band experience, go with the Kenny Clarke/Francy Boland big band. All Smiles is a winner, but almost all their albums are winners.

Atomic Basie is a great album to go with as well.

Oh yeah... and for modern BB, check out the Devil's Workshop. Album is called Idle Hands. Very cool.

Chris, for a modern band playing some hot swing, check out Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, especially their self-titled debut. It got ME up and dancing when we saw them live (and that NEVER happens).

Give Bob Mintzer a listen. Awesome stuff. I recommend his CD "Incredible Journey"

or if you just want one song, "The Ring" is my favorite off that CD.

Another post here in the Guide reminded me of a CD I have that I've enjoyed for years, but most people would never have heard of. I went to a big concert at the famous Red Rocks ampitheater in Denver, Colorado the summer of 1992 (right before my senior year of high school) that had about 6 excellent...

New Creed album under the name "Alter Bridge"

For those who didn't know, (I didn't until this past week) Creed officially split up, with the lead singer Scott going own way to pursue other things. Well, the rest of the group grabbed a new lead singer, and just put out a new album with the band name "Alter Bridge"....

              New Evanescence album Oct 2006!
              by Chris D
I just went to the Evanescence homepage tonight for the heck of it, and they're saying that they're going to release a new album Oct 3rd! YAY!

I LOVE Amy Lee's voice, and I was worried that this group had fallen apart. I'm going into this album with very high expectations,...

Chris Botti concert, new album, and jazz classics
              by Chris D

I went to Chris's concert tonight in Anchorage, Alaska, and it was absolutely amazing. I'd have to say it was one of the top 3 concerts I've ever been to. It was certainly fun, but the concert was especially tops for all-out, max quality music that was exceptionally tight. Chris's...

              New Favorite Allison Krause Song
              by David Meek
I was listening to my daughter's Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Album CD just to check out some new stuff and came across an Allison Krause song that I'd not heard before - It Doesn't Matter. What a nice, quiet, soulful song. It's also on her So Long, So Wrong album. Give it a listen if you get a...
