    Paul Newman - R.I.P

Saturday 27 September 2008: Legendary film star Paul Newman, whose brilliant blue eyes, good looks and talent made him one of Hollywood's top actors over six decades, has died, a spokesperson said on Saturday. He was 83 and had been battling cancer.

Newman appeared in some 60 movies, including Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Hustler, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and The Sting. He earned nine Oscar nominations for acting and won the best actor honour for 1986's The Color of Money.

I was also saddened when I heard this news. Definitely one of my favorite actors. Great, entertaining classic films. Cool Hand Luke, Hustler, Hombre, Butch Cassidy---they don't get any better than that...end of an era.

Which Newman film did you watch this weekend?
        by Ovation
In honour of the great Paul Newman's passing, I decided to pull out an old favourite and kick back for a couple of hours. While I've seen Slap Shot over a dozen times, this was the first time it wasn't P&S and it was the first time on a screen bigger than a 4:3 32 inch SD TV. The 25th Anniversary...

Butch Trucks, 69, died 1/24 (Tuesday evening). One of the co founders of the Allman Brothers Band, and uncle of Derek Trucks (one of my favorites), passed away last night. Part of an amazing musical legacy, The Allman Brothers music has been part of my life since first hearing their music in 1970.

        Road To Perdition - A Review July 12, 2002

This is a movie about fathers and sons. It's about the relationships between them and the trials they produce. It's about both generations looking at, and in some cases learning more about their children and parents than they
