    The Moody Blues On SACD

Over the past years (and there have been alot of them) this British Group
has offered the buying public a wonderful tapestry of music.
never has it sounded so full of life as it does on these remastered treasures
anyone who has been a fan in the past will not be disappointed with these
    new releases.
    Days of Future Past
In Search of the Lost Chord
    Threshold of a Dream
    A Question of Balance
    To Our Childrens Childrens Children

All of these classic releases have been upgraded with Single Masters,
    unreleased tracks and alternate versions.
They contain the above mentioned in CD format and the original L/P is
given the SACD stereo layer and 5.1 multi-layer treatment as well as
a CD layer. All in Digi-Pack Form

(note, In Search of the Lost Chord does not have sacd 5.1 only stereo sacd
    is offered)
these are sonically better than my Mobile Fidelity discs.

    Enjoy, Dave...

      ShadowZA,
I hope you have a chance to check these releases out, one thing that
confuses me though, why haven't they released Every Good Boy Deserves Favour. Hmmm...
      Later, Dave...

Cool, a purchase my wife will like. Her dad was their tour manager back in the early '70's and she still loves their music (I like it too).

OK, just was at Amazon looking at some user comments on these. One guy claimed the SACD version has been highly compressed to be louder, destroying the dynamic range to make it louder. Then pulls the rug out from under his own credibility by saying he checked it by ripping to his PC and checking against the mobile fidelity versions in Soundforge.

Last I checked, it was impossible to rip a DSD SACD to a PC.

Dave, have you listened to the CD layer to see if his comments are even true for that layer? Not that I wouldn't buy them anyway just for the hi-rez mixes, but I am curious.

Sorry it took me so long to reply Brandon,
Yes I have listened to the CD layer and to my ear the Quality of these
is definitely superior to my Mobile Fidelity versions of the same Discs.
The best comparision that I have found to these is the L/P versions
of the same recordings on Mobile Fidelity of which I also own as well.

            Hope this helps,
            Regards, Dave.

I have all five of these SACD's and I think they are great. My only complaints are that they ratcheted up the cost on some of them when they included an extra disk of alternate takes. I don't listen to the alternate takes so I feel these disks are not good value buys. Also, "In Search of the Lost Chord" would be by far the best multi-channel disk but it's the one disk that is stereo only. That being said, I listen to these a lot--most frequently from my Mac Mini after ripping the CD layer and skipping the few tracks that I think sound dated. I say "Buy 'em and enjoy!"

                  Your Welcome Brandon,
now if they would release Every Good Boy Deserves Favour, that would be
                  a welcome addition.
