A better cork mat or just getting more of your $

Opinions about this cork mat bunk or truth? about their claims of better with less record contact? I'm not sold that it does anything, except make your less than 180 G records more likely to float around. Opinions?

things like this are V device dependent.
they work better on some tt's & not so much on others.

the principle is to isolate & reduce the transmission of minute vibrations that find their way to the cartridge & effect the character of the audible signal.

    HERE is another popular one.

remember that changing the mat thickness requires adjusting your VTA (vertical tracking angle).

this is a good read, the LINK provided by the good folks at Vinyl Assylum.
section #9 deals specifically with VTA

Right. Thanks Bill for the input. I think I will opt, no on this one. I think it might make more difference on a table with a less solid platform than I have (platen) As thick as my acrylic base is, and as solid as the bearing assembly is, there's no movement except circling the spindle, within reason. So I think it's safe to say i am in pretty good shape on the felt I have. I am not a huge fan of felt, as I think it can be a conductor of static electricity, and that is our enemy. I could be wrong, but I always thought that possible with felt.

      thanks,

          Picture Of Felt Around Tweeter
          by kingpin
Anyone have a picture of felt treatment around an Dayton rs28 tweeter?

Should the felt be right up to the edge of the metal screen an the sides and the top and bottom?

How large of an area should the felt cover? 3-4" all around?

          Wool Felt Pad Recommendations
          by jtt
I'm in the process of building a set of 4 RL-p15 d2 subwoofers (6.5 cubic feet, ported with 6" aeroports and tuned to 18hz) and was wondering if using felt pad in them would be appropriate (and why) or if using a cheap acoustical foam would be just as good.

If the felt is the way...

          Felt around the tweeter
          by kgveteran
Is this for standing waves, and can there be a benefit to all tweeters ? Is there a typical frequency effected ?

I know the early Spica TC-50 used .75" wool over the whole baffle ! Is there any chance this would cause a problem instead of a fix ?
