    headphone amps

First post for a new member

I guess I'll need a headphone amp since the RSX 1055 doesn't have a headphone jack. I'm not familiar w/ headphone amps at all. I assume they connect to a receiver just like any other separate? Any good/bad brands I should look for? Oh, and what should I be looking for in a headphone amp?

    (I have Grado SR60s)

Sorry to move your first post, but it really belonged in Audio. It's not specific to Rotel. Welcome!

Hi ya CK, welcome to The Guide. This is one of those "depends on your budget" questions. First off, with the Grado 'phones, I'd recommend a Grado amp. Here are two to consider:
      1. RA-1 (Battery) for $315.00
        RA-1 (AC powered) for $425
Now, if you wanted to spend a bit less, try this Creek:
      1. OBH-11 for $199.
I don't have a separate headphone amp so I can't really comment on individual plusses/minuses, but all three of these are generally considered to be good solid amps. Good luck, and let us know what you get (and how it sounds).

Head on over to www.head-fi.org for more info on headphone amps. I personally use a Musical Fidelity X-Can amp and I am very happy with it.

          Headphone amp connections

Just bought a Grado headphone amp and need a little advice on hook-up to my RSP-1068.
Excluding CD and Tuner audio-input, I have 4 other audio "inputs": TV, 2xDVD, and PC (for MP3).

Is the Zone 2 output to the Grado the best option to hear all 6 audio inputs? Is the...

I thought I would give you my initial thoughts on this headphone amp. First off and be advised, this amp has piles of gain, both in the low gain and in the high gain settings (Not sure which one I like better yet). This amp will have no problem powering ANYTHING you connect it too!!. I would not call...

          Headphone solution?
          by UFObuster
I recently replaced my receiver with separates without realizing that the RSP-1068 has no headphone jack. I have great 'cans'--Grado. Is there a way to make use of the 1068's outputs for headphone use? I can't figure a way but I'm very new to the product.
          thanks,
          Roger

          Headphone amp for RSP-1098?
          by whmacs
          Hi All,
I'm contemplating getting a headphone amp for my RSP-1098 to improve two channel listening (I've got Jamo THX speakers which are great for movies, but not so good for music). I am tossing up between the MF XCAN v3 and the Creek OBH21SE. I've currently got a pair of Senn HD570 headphones,...

          headphone output - noobie question
          by JonJeffman
          Hey,
Not sure if this is a dumb question or not, but if a piece of equipment doesn't advertise it as having a headphone amp, are all the headphone outputs the same (i.e. like a line out or something)?

I was looking at buying some Sennheiser HD650's and read that they really need...
