Is it a good Idea to make RCA Cables out of RG6 Coax

I have just recently found out that you can create RCA Cables out of Cable Coax. I was wondering if it is a good idea to do this or not.

What companies make the best coax and rca connectors? The Best sheilding? What type of Coax? If RG6 Analog Video or Digital video Coax?

Go to some of the HT/audio forums, this included and search under user name Chris White. On his home page there's a very detail DIY cable section including where to shop for what parts.

CATCables will be introducing a coax based sub cable soon. Of course, that's a finished product, but it will be at a fair price...

More than average shielding is not required for audio applications. Video is far more stressful in that area. Generally most coax is 90-100% shielded utilizing varying shielding techniques. Some use a 2 piece shield. Typlically a wire braid and a foil of some kind. My coax specs are posted on my website under one of the video or digital products.

Actually though audio cable is 50 ohm, whereas video cable is 75 ohm. So, there is a technical difference in the cable's capabilities. For higher frequencies, I dont' think coax is a good thing. But it's been fairly well proven that it does work well for low bass applications.

          Hi.

I'm building a new house and plan to run in-wall wiring to a projector location.

I found some cool RCA and S-Video modular wall jacks that terminate via 110 punchdown blocks. The idea being to directly run these signals on Cat cable.

          But will this really...

Hi all, hope I'm posting this in the right place...

I'm running a composite RCA video signal from my computer to my VCR. Because they are in different rooms, the distance is approximately 50 feet, and I get terrible signal loss. (not that the quality was good to begin with) My proposed...
