    Dumb (but easy) question

Is the tape loop output on an integrated amp line level? I always thought it was, but I want to make sure while subwoofer shopping for my daughter.

Yes it is. Tape loops are often used for things like equalizers as well.

Yes but it is not controlled by the volume control. However, she should not be using it for a subwoofer because, as she varies the volume for the main speakers, the sub will stay at full volume and will not be balanced with them.

Subwoofer has its own volume control, but I see what you're saying. Hmmm. I hate running the speaker wires through it, but that may be the alternative.

I gather that your integrated amp does not have "normal" line level outputs.

No, it's a Cambridge Audio Topaz AM 5. It sounds nice for the $100 it cost, but there are zero frills. No remote, no line level outputs, no DAC. I love my daughter, but the responsibility just isn't there yet to spend too much on amplifiers and such. LOL

Then I wouldn't obsess about running the main speaker wires through the sub. :W

Oh, I wasn't too concerned about the effect on SQ, just the extra wires and routing. My Marantz broke just as I was preparing to upgrade her rig (Lepai and Pioneer SP-BS22 bookshelf speakers) So now she'll have the Cambridge Audio integrated and a pair of Pioneer SP-FS52 floorstanders. I ended up getting the other end of the Topaz line (SR20) as a stopgap until after the holiday/birthday season.

Tape loop / record-out source select
                  by Bob_Collins
Ok guys, I have a question to pose. Are there any Home Theater receivers or processors out that include the venerable, old “tape loop” function? I’m referring to the ability on older stereo equipment to select a source for recording out to the tape outputs, but still allow you to choose to listen...

                  RSP 1066 - tape loop?
                  by Jive Dadson
This feels like a dumb question, but after spending I-don't-know-how-long just trying to figure out how to adjust the left/right balance, maybe not.

Is there a way to put an equalizer into a tape loop or external processor loop, and if so how?

Do I select TAPE for LISTEN...

Annoying cross-talk between analogue inputs (Tuner/CD/Tape) in RSP-1066

In my current set-up I’ve a Rotel RCD-1070 player connect via CD analogue input on RSP-1066. If then a select the Tuner (without anything connected to the respective input) and then increase the volume I can hear...

headphone w/RSX-1055 (via tape-out or other?)
                  by stevkar
I'm all set to put the money down and finally buy the Rotel RSX-1055... but the one thing I can't get over is not being able to attach headphone output. The set-up is in a multi-ourpose den, home-study, library, spare bedroom, etc. and have to be able to run silently with audio out to headphone somehow....
