Audiolab + NAD, good maching ?

    hi guys,
    i need your help.
i'm thinking to buy pre+power amp combo

    my idea is :
    - preamplifier Audiolab 8200q
    - poweramp NAD S200

what sound it should give ?, is good maching ?
    thank you

first off....i have never heard either unit...

based on some quick googling, i would expect a decent result, depending on impedance-matching & the type & sensitivity of the speakers you are using.

the NAD will have good reserve & head-room for dynamics, though i would rather see a damping factor higher than 200 if using speakers on the lower side of 90 dB.

one nice feature on the Audiolab is the gain trim.
i recommend taking advantage of this feature by setting your gain as low as possible while still achieving the highest dynamics & SPL you need for your normal listening.
this will limit distortion from the volume pot & associated circuitry, basically running the pre near to passive, with as little gain as possible.

my C-19 pre has this feature.
    i run at Zero gain.
my volume is set between 60 & 90% depending on source voltage (e.g. fm tuner, turntable, DAC, etc).

if you are getting a good deal on the equipment (i assume you are buying used) then i say go for it.
you can always re-sell in the future.....

sure i could re-sell in future, but i don't want do that!, i would a good definitive solution, not the best but almost definitive.
                    do you understand me ?
i have a doubt on audiolab 8200q, sincw some says that it is clinical, is this true ?
also the rotel rhb10 vs nad s200, which should be better ?
excuse my questions, i need help

i hope some one in the forum has tried them and comment my discussion

"Clinical" is sometimes used by people who find accuracy isn't necessarily a good thing. I could describe Bryston amplifiers as clinical sounding (and I do), but they only sound that way in some systems. I think the OP is on the right track looking for synergy between components. I haven't heard the amplifier in question, but based on the NAD amplifiers I've heard (quite a few) I would think there wouldn't be a problem with a neutral sounding pre amp. As an example, I'm not a fan of overly "lush" sounding equipment up the chain from a NAD amplifier. I have heard a tube pre amp with a NAD amp and didn't care for it. It had detail, etc., but it just sounded like the music couldn't color within the lines if that makes any sense.

                        thank you lee,
what do you mean with "I think the OP is on the right track looking for synergy between components" ?

so you consider nad amp warm sounding ?, or with "lush" you mean open/clear sound ?

                          by knifeinthesink
Fortune has smiled on me and I found an audiolab 8000a for less the $300, and a dynaco (dont know the model) tube amp with a seperate preamp for $250.

I used to have an audiolab and I really loved it, but I've been wanting to try a vintage tube amp for a long time.

Why Rotel when Nad is better SQ amplification
                          by gbowers
Please explain why B&W speaker owners buy Rotel when Nad amplification sounds just as clean with substantially better dynamics, bass, detail and more importantly, musical presence.

When auditioning B&W 804s and 803s speakers, only Classee and Nad M3 integrated amps made speakers...

                          by ht_addict
I just replaced my Rotel RMB-1095 with a NAD S250 and noticed on the back that the NAD has gain controls for each channel. Do I set the controls to max which is the THX setting or min to minimize background noise.
