    Compression audio test?

Hey how good can you guys do?

A hi-def test for your ears (and your audio equipment): Listen to these songs and see if you can tell the difference between an MP3 and an uncompressed audio file.

I got 5/6 with a midgrade gaming headset plugged directly into my computer. I do have better headphones and a better sound card not installed granted the on board sound on this particular motherboard is pretty decent if not a bit bass heavy. The one I did miss I was torn between 2 and it ended up being the 320kbps and the uncompressed.

Hmm, I only got 2/6 with just some mid/lower range earbuds plugged into my laptop. I know I was getting a little listener fatigued after the 2nd sample. I would listen to each of the 3 samples twice to see.

What I noticed it was pretty difficult for me to tell. On 2 I picked the 128kps and on the other 2 I picked the 320kps.

I might try some other higher end earbuds I have that I rarely use to see if I can tell the difference better.

There are three kinds of people in this world; those that can count, and those that can't.

All I've got is crappty desktop speakers at work...not even going to bother

If I could somehow play this over my home system via quality means and my kids would quit re-setting my @#$%'ing pre-pro...then maybe.

I got 4/6 using my built in laptop speakers. As a bonus, the two I missed I did pick the 320kbps though.

          Compression Driver

A compression driver is a type of loudspeaker driver used primarily in high-frequency reproduction. It is commonly found in professional audio applications, such as PA (Public Address) systems, studio monitors, and high-end home audio speakers. The compression driver is designed to handle the high frequencies efficiently and deliver them with clarity and power. A compression driver consists of several key components:

          Power Compression

Power compression is a phenomenon that occurs when the voice coil and other components of a loudspeaker driver heat up due to increased power input. As the voice coil temperature rises, its resistance also increases, leading to a decrease in the electrical power converted into acoustic output. This reduction in acoustic output for a given electrical power input is known as power compression. The concept of power compression is essential to understand because it can...

          Wave-guides and.....don't hit me....compression tweeters
          by Branwell
          Hello,

In the quest for lower crossover frequencies (midrange to tweeter), wave-guides used in conjunction with standard tweeters seem to be presenting themselves as possible solutions.

          The problem is; Implementation.

Mostly, the info I've come across revolves...

I need some help finding a replacement wave guide and compression driver to replace my Selenium ti and parts-express 10inch waveguide.

I think I have narrowed it down to one brand of compression driver and two wave guides but if there are better options I would love to hear them. I am...

          Hi All

Has any of you experienced any audible diffierences ( particularly in lower frequencies reproduction) , when powering your amps through your power conditioner Vs the walls outlets ?

My experience with Classe CAM 600 monoblocks is that Bass reproduction is slightly...
