I send my PS3 audio signal to my Rotel using an optical cable. I quickly learned that these digital connections and the sound that the receiver decodes from them will not be transferred to the analog tape outs of the unit so I could hook my headphone amp to it. The PS3 of course does not have analog RCA outs but some sort of proprietary plug in connection that branches out into analog outs with a special cable which I have course lost over tiime.
Now, instead of buying that 'special' cable, I have just thought of the idea of possibility of using my TV's analog outs to send to the headphone amp. Do you think this might work?.
PS3>toslink out to Receiver> Receiver decodes sound when I'm using the amp and speakers for sound>But also sends audio signal to tv Via HDMI > Dan plugs RCA patch cords from the Analog outs from back of TV to headphone amp and Voila!! I get analog sound from my headphone amp!.
What do you think?
