    DTS Neo:X™

This should be really cool, expensive but really cool

    http://www.dts.com/Corporate/Press_R..._CES_2011.aspx

    - 11 speakers, 11 amps whoa movies like you are right in it :T I am a sound guy :B

    - Dolby Pro Logic IIz 9.1
Dolby chose to focus on front-height channels rather than add additional surround channels or back-height channels because “it’s easier to localize sounds in front of you,”

    - Audyssey DSX 9.1 front and height channels

    - Yamaha’s flagship 11-channel AVR already supports two front height and two rear height channels using proprietary Yamaha technology

What I like is that studios can now encode in 11.1. But they hardly use 7.1 now so who knows how long it'll take them to pick this up. Either way DSX has been able to do 11.1 for a while now.

Yes there are very few Blu Ray in 7.1

There are only 66 Blu Ray with DTS Master Audio with 7.1, 20 with Dolby TrueHD 7.1 .

The issue has been that all movies are mixed in 5.1 for commercial movie theaters, only recently have hey release Dolby 7.1 for movies

Setup Prolbem: 1066, DVR, and no sound from non-dolby channels
        by chrisbr40
I've found this problem posted before but didn't seen resolution.

Setting up newly purchased 1066 with Comcast DVR and 5.1 speaker systems. Default surround mode is DPLII. I get sound from HiDef channels but no sound from standard channels.

        Advice appreciated.

        Audyssey DSX and speaker decisions

I won't recant my rant about trying to find the demo at Cedia this past week, but I did hear the Audyssey/Integra demo. Apparently the real demo was offsite and you had to find some girls who were the gatekeepers. Anyway, the demo I heard was pretty good. Unfortunately, they only played the Dolby bluray...

I am curious to see if any of you would like to have DTS-NeoX and Dolby Pro IIz as a software upgrade. It would be nice to have it 9.2 channels for large rooms

New 9.1 channel Dolby Pro Logic IIz
        by Chris D
From a news release I just saw of the first receiver, (Onkyo) with the new Dolby Pro Logic IIz technology that extracts to 9.1 channels. I chased down this technology report on the Dolby website. Very interesting.
I'm surprised that I hadn't heard of this before! My thoughts in another post...
