Does anyone on here have any experience with Wyred 4 sound ST-500 power amp? Is Emotiva in the same boat audiowise with they're XPA-2?

I've had a ST500 for a few months now. It's an excellent amp, very dynamic, transparent(no coloration), and the tightest low end I've experienced so far. Everything I could ask for in an amp. I'm now debating if I should move up to the STI-1000 or just purchase the matching STP preamp.
I haven't heard the XPA-2, but a friend of mine has owned both and claims the W4S has a lower noise floor and is more neutral sounding.SEOS 12/AE TD10M Front Stage in ProgressComment

My Wyred 4 Sound DAC2 has just arrived and I am wondering the best way to integrate it with my system. Mainly from AppleTV to SSP. I have a Cat Cable Glass optical from AppleTV to DAC2 and a pair of StraightWire Virtuoso XLR's from DAC2 to SSP. This was my original plan.

On a PS3, audiowise, the advantage of using HDMI instead of optical output vs HDMI is that you can have DTS-HD and DolbyHD with blu-ray movies. You can not get those formats via the optical output. Is this only true with blu-ray movies, or does this apply to PS3 games as well?
