    Magnepan 1.6's and power

I have read that to truely get the most from Magnepans in general they need quite a bit of power. Is 500w RMS at 4ohms a decent power rating for 1.6's? Or is something more like 1000w + RMS at 4ohms needed?

500 watts @ 4 ohms is plenty, now my question is what is the amp rated into an 8 ohm load ? If you tell me 250 then you've got an indication of it's ability to 'dbl down' , an important spec when ones looks at an amps stability.

Maggies love stable amplifiers capable of strong current delivering capability.

Run my 1.6's with a 200 watt Mac amp. I have no problems, but then again Iam not crankin it either. I've ran them with a 200 watt GAS amp that hardly moved the needles.
