Pre/Pros and Receivers have many pure audio RCA inputs and inputs associated with the video inputs. Over 20. Some people claim that these act as antennas for EM and RF interference. I auditioned the Cardas Caps in my system recently and if you are using your pre/pro to power your 2 channel listening the caps really lower the noise level. The sounds become alot purer. I was already using the Rotel RLC-1040 to elimimate alot of problems but the caps took it an extra step. In my situation it was a significant improvement. Do only the audio inputs let in RF and EM or do all inputs and outputs let this interference into the amplifier chassis? I'll try covering the video inputs next to see if that helps. The Audio outputs after that. The video outputs after that? Theres also S-Vid caps and XLR caps. -Russ

I keep reading reviews of pre/pros where the reviewer points out the 'sound' of the pre/pro. How much does your pre/pro really contribute to the sound of your system?... -

Some pre/pros that are highly regarded for the quality of their presentation on HT surround modes (DTS, DD 5.1, et al) are not considered truly appropriate for "audiophile" two channel music playback, especially those lacking an analog pass-through. Others have DACs that are easily surpassed...-

by pbarataOnly recently I've noticed that I can hear a hissing from my speakers (only noticeable when I put my ears close to the tweeters) which almost doesn’t increase if I increase the volume. This sound it’s only perceptible in the tweeters and not in the woofers.
However, if I lower the...-
