I was looking at getting a McIntosh MC252 but realized it does not have a fully balanced design. To get that feature, I would have to upgrade to the MC402. The extra power isn't needed, but I was curious if I would realize an improvement from the fully balanced design of the 402 that would justify the increase in cost. I am currently connecting with the RCA cables. So in addition to the amp price increase, I would also have to get a set of XLR cables. This would be for the 2-channel audio portion of my system.

So, I’m looking for your valuable input in selecting a preamp below $7500 to match up with my MC501 mono block amps and B&W Nautilus 802 speakers....-

by HirogenHello, my 1st post
I read in the FAQ at section 3 that the C1/C2 XLR connections are not really fully differential and balanced (to me that does not seem like a good thing). I have read the C2 manual but I could find no proof of this to be true, however maybe I missed it.

by shuang1234I have noticed a number of posts disqualifying the Rotel 1098 from consideration due to lack of balanced connections. I stumbled upon a few interesting articles that explain pros and cons about balanced connections.
In a nutshell, unless you have serious noise problems or a high-end system...-
