DVD player with 24/96 or 24/192 digital output?

Does anyone know of a DVD player that outputs a 24-bit/96kHz or 24-bit/192kHz audio stream from its digital coax / optical ports?

Can anyone tell me what regulation or law or agreement prevents manufacturers of DVD players from implementing this feature?

    Nigel.

Would not think this should be that hard to find - my old Sony DVP NS500V would output 96/24 to my Rotel RSX-1055. Trick is, finding DVD's that will allow it. I have a couple on audiophile labels that will but I don't think there are many.

I used to really try and find high rez recordings but eventually realised that the biggest factor was quality of the recording. Properly done, even Redbook CD can sound amazingly good. In fact, A well done Redbook can easily better a poorly produced DVD-A or SACD. Then when you consider the titles available on CD...well that's a whole different discussion.
