    My new amp....

    Hi,

Am I nuts?! Another thread about amplifiers!!!! Duck and cover!

    Ahem... Anyhow...

Just thought I'd pop a post up to let you know of my most recent HiFi purchace. I've been saving for a while now for a new power amp and have been driven almost crazy by the wide and varied choices out there. I ordered the DarTZeel NHB-108 on Saturday and I should have it in roughly one month. I auditioned it along with the new Kharma Matrix Mp-150 mono amps at home for a week or so. The choice was clearer than crystal.

It matched up with my Kharmas brilliantly and for the first time I was actually beginning to get the best from them. I'm not there yet as my pre amp - a Classe CP500 probably needs changing. I demoed with the the DarTZeel pre amp also - and there was a staggeringly huge difference between the two. Perhaps next year.....

I'll fill you all in when it arrives....

Alloroc, how can that be, after all don't all amps sound the same? Phew let's not start that war again. Nothing like having different pieces in your house, in your system to compare musically. It looks like you made a great choice with your ears calling the shots and not specs. That's the only true test of how well a piece will really sound. Congrats & happy listening!!

Yup... must be one of those "Golden Ears" types.

I haven't had the pleasure of hearing it yet, so like Gump, I checked out some reviews. It's obviously a beautifully made component.

          Enjoy & Congrats!

Yup, looks nice (and is quite expensive) therefore it must sound great!

It should be obvious that that is not the meaning of the reply. Just congratulating a fellow forum member on a purchase he is obviously excited about.

There is already one sorry mess of a thread on this forum. Let's try and keep this one friendly?

I put a "Wink" at the end.

If pearsall001 can nudge (and he didn't even wink) so can I.

In hindsite though, I should have nudged and winked pearsall001. My appology, BTB.

Oh, and yes, contrats on the new amp Alloroc.

Y'know what.... nudge and wink away!

It's nothing compared to the grief I get from my buddies about hobby....

Oddly enough though, when a particularly cool new DVD hits the shelves or when a piece of music excites them, it's always my house they come around to.... Wonder why?!

Yep I sure am real excited about the new amp. I've been saving for it for about 14 months now and following a lot of listening and analysis, I can tell you the DarTZeel is probably the finest power amp I've heard bar the Krell Evo. That said tho' the Krell wouldn't suit my setup so I'm not put out by that.

As for 'golden ears', those who've read my other posts will know how I feel about having confidence in and trusting your senses. It's the key to HiFi. It's like how the Judge responded when asked to define pornography - he couldn't!, he just said he knew it when he saw it!

                    It's that simple really!

Thanks for the kind words btw....

                    Vincent.

                      Congratulations, Vincent! :T

I haven't heard it, but I read the reviews and it seems to be very good. How about a review of the DarTZeel compared to the other amps you had the possibility of testing? I would sure like to hear about what are your thoughts of it vs. the almighty Krell Evo.

                                    Hi all,

Just back from a trip to Belfast, so am a little late posting....

                                    My system is as follows.

I have two seperate systems : one purely for audio and another for HT - located in seperate rooms. The HT stuff is in my family room while I have a dedicated listening room for audio.

My HT kit is quite basic and not that prone to upgraditis. I have a Rotel RSX-1055 receiver and a Marantz DV8400 udp. Speakers are B&W703, HTM7, DS7 dipoles and asw750 sub. Very happy with that lot and no real plans to change - other than perhaps hook my Classe CA-2100 power amp up to the 703s when the DarTZeel arrives.

My audio kit is where I'm much pickier. Firstly it's 2 channel only.

                                    Amplification - Classe CP-500/CA-2100 pre/power amp combo

Digital playback - Esoteric X-03 - I use it for CD and SACD in 2 channel. I also have a Copland CDA822 but it's pretty much redundant now - the X-03 is really that good.

Analogue - Clearaudio Ambient with a Unify tonearm and am currently using a Koetsu Rosewood Signature cartrdge. I alsouse a Clearaudio Balance phono preamp.

Speakers - Kharma Exquisite Midi (bought these for a song from a client in Holland - interesting tale).

Speaker cables - Kharma Enigma (came with speakers).

Interconnects and powercords - Nordost Valhalla.

                                    Power conditioning - Isotek Nova.

It's taken a long time upgrading to get me here. The DarTZeel takes it to another level. It's difference amazing really and all the more apt with the recent postings over the while. When I get the time, I'll post a review as requested....

I've pretty much decided on the DarTZeel preamp next. That will be early next year some time.

                                    Vincent

Terrific system, Vincent. I have always wanted to try a Koetsu cartridge. Maybe when the present one wears out.
