Has anyone ever heard of these speakers before they are the best sounding speakers I've heard in a long time. these speakers are so so smooth sounding don't remember the model # but they were in the range of 4500$ a pair. My Kefs are good, but these Dalis are better. I think these speaker are close to being the best speakers I've heard. If anyone has heard them before please comment.

Blake,
Dali is a very popular brand in Europe, with speakers to suit all pockets. My dealer had the Euphonia MS4 on demo recently and I can advise that they were an excelent high end speaker. Retailing here for about €8000, the build quality and engineering is top class. I didn't demo them properly but I did listen in briefly to the demo delivered to another customer. They were hooked up to Classe electronics and performed well with them. I'd like to get a proper blast of them sometime.

Vincent I am surprised that these speakers are not talked about more all you hear about is B&Ws from Europe and the Dali's are so good. I have B&Ws at home in a stereo setup, the Dali's are equally good if not better. The B&Ws are on the brighter side compared to the Dali's. I also heard another speaker that I never really heard of called Triangle that sounded pretty dam good. The Dali's have been on my mine ever since I've heard them they might be living with me soonBlake- Bottom

Have to agree that Dali's do sound great. I have auditioned them in a few places against other brands and there is just something about them that sounds right.
Only reason I dont own a pair or five is that I couldnt get them at the right price.
They are mostly 4 ohms with about 89 db efficiency, so they may not be suited to receivers or those using bridged amplifiers.
Highly recommended to anyone looking for speakers.- Bottom

My next major upgrade will be front mains. My short list is B&W, Wharfedale, and Dali.
In order of the visual appearance alone, my preference is Dali, Wharf, and B&W. SQ wise, It becomes a matter personal taste, and compatibility with your current equip. I know of a dealer who has some ‘scratch and dent’; if you are interested, give me a PM.- Bottom

The Dali Helicon's are outstanding speakers. Just as you describe, smooth, relaxed, yet they don't give up any detail to get there. In fact, with that ribbon tweeter, that have to have the best HF response I've heard. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them.- Bottom

I've been looking around at a new pair of speakers in the $4K to $5K range and I've noticed that when I google Dali I see several low cost sites for the Helicons. The other brands I'm interested in (Sonus farber, Wharfedale, etc.) rarely show discount sites. Any idea why and/or any experiences with these sites? I sure would like a pair of 800's!

Nominal impedance [ohms]
6
Recommended amp. power [Watts]
40 - 200
Sensitivity (2,83 V/1 m) [dB]: 88,0
I drive them with a Nad C372
2 x 150W Minimum Continuous Power into 4/8 ohms
220W, 340W, 460W IHF Dynamic Power into 8, 4 and 2 ohms, respectively
Is this to much power.
Should I have any concerns either for blowing a speaker or overheating the amp at loud sustained listening sessions? What you got back home, lil' sister, to play yer fuzzy warbles on? Pitiful, portable picnic players?

IMHO, those specs represent a rather 'watt thirsty' speaker.
Your amp should work just fine. It is not having enough power that will typically damage speakers.- Bottom

thanks for the replies.
The sound is surprisingly good from the Dali Mentor 5.
I had the Ikon 6 for a couple months and hated them, hence did not expect much from the Mentor but was pleasantly surprised. They don't have the base of my better speakers but for the price I am surprisingly very happy. What you got back home, lil' sister, to play yer fuzzy warbles on? Pitiful, portable picnic players?
