I got to listen to the Apollo recently and I think it's a excellent but not stellar player, but for half the price you can get the similar sounding Cambridge Audio Azure 650C.Jerry RappaportComment

Do you mean 650C compared to Rega? I probably give Arcam CD192 or CD36 a try.

I had the opportunity to listen to the MF A5 and the Krell along with the Rega Planet (not the Apollo). The Krell sound was not for me at all. The A5 was very nice, but I have all black components. I ended up with a Cary CD303-300 (after listening to about 6 other players) which has the best of both worlds with a solid state and a tube output.Originally posted by audiofan

I read review about new Cary cdp. It sounds like a great player even though i have never heard of it. However, the price is spicy and out of my budget...

I have been looking for a CD player for less than $1K to go along with my current 2-channel setup (Krell 400Xi and B&W 804s). My dealer suggested the following 2 CD players:
1) Rega Apollo
2) Creek Evo-C

I just listened to Rotel, Classe, Rega and a Sony CD players yesterday with a friend. We have been listening to his demo Rega CD for several days and were blown away with it. The whole experience was an incredible improvment over his Sony DVD player and my OPPO, we A/Bed the Rega on both our 800 series... -
Has anyone heard this set up? Will the Apollo calm down the upper frequencies of the B&W and Krell set up? I am a big fan of Krell and love the idea that two small pieces of electronic gear can be a true high end setup. Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Has anyone A/B these two players on the same system so all else was the same except the player? I am putting together a system and have decided to go with a RC-1070 pre amp and RB-1080 amp and now I am wondering about a source. I have read that the apollo has a much nice bass section and larger soundstage....
