    Crossover for 2ch operation

I am looking at getting a dedicated 2ch pre amp and still would like to use my subs, so I am looking at some form of crossover.

Now I realise there are some very expensive and good units on the market, but what do people think of using car audio crossovers, are they of good enough quality?

I have been lent a Coustic XM-1e crossover, and have inserted it between my current Rotel 1098 and Elektra Reference power amp, and also my subs.

The unit appears to work fine, I turned the volume up to full on the 1098 with no material playing and could not detect any additional noise from the speakers, and the best thing was no hum from the subs.

Does anyone else use this type of crossover in their home setup, and if so what are some of the units you use?

At this point in time I am not sure.

Yesterday we had a bit of a GTG at Alain’s place (Alebonau) and compared several DAC’s as well as his MF A5 pre against a Rotel 1098 in bypass mode and a Benchmark DAC1 being used as a pre. BTW no comparison the A5 creamed the others with the DAC1 coming in a not so close second, and the 1098 an average third.

Elektra has supposedly got a new 2ch pre due out sometime in January, although this unit from all accounts does not have the HT bypass function, which in my case is a requirement due to only having the one room and equipment.

So at this point in time I guess I will start looking at different options although one dealer has told me the AR SP16 is a great rig, but as yet I haven’t had a listen to it.

Maybe I should also look at the Plinius pre's as well.

        Hi,
This is my attempt at a V2.0 Wish list of enhancements for the Rotel RSP 1098

This updated list is based on feedback on the V1.0 list published in a separate thread within this forum and a second consolidated view of all the other threads I can find in this and several other...

Shootout : Parasound C2 vs Rotel 1098 (long)
        by DrBoom
Well, it's been almost 2 months now that I've lived with both my Rotel RSP1098 and my Parasound C2 and the time for deciding which I'm going to keep is almost at hand.(not that I HAVE to decide now for some reason, but I'd hate to end up with 2 processors permanently)
I actually own both of them,...

Rotel RSP 1098 Wish List V1.0
        by Aussie Geoff
        Hi,

As a long time lurker and “newbe” member of this forum I thought I’d start a service of managing a list of suggested upgrades to the RSP 1098. Thanks to all the helpful advice from this forum I have my order in for a 1098 of my own (waiting on the DTS-ES issue being fixed).

My first look at the RSP-1098 and a look back
        by xavierzx11
I have had my 1098 for about a week now, but because of my family (3 young kids) and my job I have only had about 4 hours of real setup and listening time, so this is not meant of be an indepth review. But before I get started on the 1098 I would like you know a little about where I came from so you...

Lexicon MC-12 HD and 2ch audio
        by VictorHRS
        Hello everyone,

I was offered a brand new Lexicon MC-12 HD (the simple one, not balanced and no RoomEq) recently by my dealer with a very good price and I'm pondering if I should buy it.

Currently my 2ch system consists of an Accuphase DP-67 cd player, an Accuphase E-308...
