Record Player Help

I am looking to get my in-laws a Record Player for Christmas. I do not need any super high speed $29202 record player. I was wondering if you all knew of any around a 100 bucks US?

You will need to spend just a little bit more to get a halfway decent turntable. Here's a couple of recommendations at $150.00:

Denon TTs are very reliable as far as I know and should provide many years of listening pleasure. I own a Denon DP-59L which I've had for 17 years. It looks like new, sounds great and runs flawlessly. :T

Sony has the PS-LX250H for $99, but I have to recommend you spend a bit more for something decent, such as the Denon.

You might adjust youir budget upward a little... for under $200, Technics makes reliable entry-level TTs that enjoy widespread use among DJs, mix artists and record stores, as well as consumers.

I wouldn't recommend used... too many moving parts.

Make sure whatever TT you buy includes tonearm and cartridge... furthermore, your in-laws' receiver must have dedicated phono inputs -- otherwise, you'll need a separate phono pre-amp as well ($50 - $50,000).

I know it's way more than you want to spend, but I had to through this out there as it really does a serious job playing LP's.

Others have listed some good [new] options in that range. I've been able to find some older Thorens 'tables like a TD 160 for around that price. My last one worked out pretty well.

It will require a phono pre and a cart (potentially). Of course, they are a little old and there's always a risk involved.
