Who here delays their Audio for HD?

    Just curious...

In the Pro Audio Mixing world that I work in, we immediately noticed that HD sceens, whether plasma, LCD, projector etc. are out of sync about 2 NTSC frames. We confirmed this on our Christie digital Projector by taking a camera and actually recording the output of the christie against a glass HD monitor (only glass is in sync).

    Wondering:

    A) Who here delays their audio into sync when using a Plasma, LCD, or Projector

    B) what equipment do you use to do this?

    Thanks,
    -Todd A.

I don't have this problem, but my pre-pro has a "Group Audio Delay" setting adjustable from 0 to 85ms if necessary.

I think most newer HT pre/pros and receivers have a similar function.
There are some things which are impossible to know, but it is impossible to know which things these are. :scratchhead:

I delay my Audio too (Maybe around 10ms? I can't remember off-hand.) But I do not use my pre/pro to do this.

My DVD player (Arcam DV29) has a feature where it can delay the sound from the video source. It is a nice little feature. I don't need much delay since it is barely noticeable, but I am glad I could do it.

Edit: I thought you meant HT (home theater), not HD (high def). (too many acronyms..

I often find that I have to delay my audio when watching OTA HD. My Rotel 1068 allows me to do this with the touch of a couple buttons on the remote.

          1068 Adjustable Audio Delay?
          by Bing Fung
I was looking at the specifications of the 1068.

Is that Group Delay the same as Audio Delay to sync the Video and Audio together?

If so, what is the range of adjustment? (i.e. milliseconds)...

          Hey Guy and Gals,

Back again for hopefully another simple question.

I always noticed a audio delay when using my rsp 1066 and also having the audio coming from the tv when watching HD programming. The 1066 was always a little ahead of the tv but this was easily fixed...

          Audio Lip Sync for RSP-1066
          by pbarata
This issue still a big problem with RSP-1066 as it is quite slow to processes the audio stream in Dolby Digital, DTS and DPL II. Compared to other surround processors that I had before, RSP-1066 introduces a big delay in audio compared to the video image. In my case I’ve DVD player connect with SCART...

          Audio delay possible w/RDC-7?
          by danyu
I've heard numerous reports of lip-sync issues with the Sharp XV-Z9000U projector. Some have suggested using devices to delay the audio signal to compensate for this. Does the RDC-7 have the capability to do this?

          thanks,

          Group Delay not working?
          by bokes
I am playing a SD DVD upconvert through a HDAX2 via 5ch analog.
I am getting a lip sync problem.
I read in the manual I can adjust the Rotel (RSX1056) by pressing the "C" button twice - then use the arrows up/down.
When I press the C button once it displays the sound level...
