Cube, bookshelf, satellite speakers
It seems so silly to ask this but just out of curosity what is the difference between cube, bookshelf, satellite speakers, is it only the shape, size or sound qualities also. Any pictures to show dissimilarities would be really helpful.

Cubes are generally very small, while bookshelves are usually bigger and either put on a bookshelf or stands of some type... either can be used as satelites. I would classify anything that isn't a full range tower speaker as a bookshelf with the smallest square speakers being cubes.AJPoe - - Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional!

I have 7.1 surround. My 4 dual cubes for the sides and rears are cheap-o RCA’s and I will be looking to upgrade. I am not a highly sophisticated audiophile however I would like some advice on nice sounding, moderately priced, cubes or speakers small enough to hang from the cube brackets.

Is there a difference in the sound quality if we place speakers on the Stands or Wall Mounts or an open shelf mounted on the wall specifically to keep the speaker, assuming they are all placed at the same height and direction and they are satellite speakers. -

I bought a Hughes E86 HDTV Satellite Receiver from Good Guys a few weeks ago. They're having a sale on them for $399, brought down even further to $299 if you buy any HDTV.
