    This is an overview of the development of DSD and SACD, from Dr. Andrew Demery who was in the center of it all.

    If you're into this kind of stuff it's an interesting read, and not overly technical.

          Excellent find Thomas! :T It's nice to get this from the inside, but even nicer to be from someone that loves the music for itself.

              I found CDs that say Telerac DSD format or simply a DSD CD. What is DSD besides Direct streaming?? I though that DSD meant that it is a SACD CD format?? Am I wrong?? So what is the difference between DSD and SACD??

              Having recently purchased an Oppo BD83NE, I can now enjoy a few hybrid SACD's that I own.
              The Oppo has the ability to output DSD or convert it to PCM through the HDMI input but unfortunately the SSP800 does not process DSD streams.
