I have it and have enjoyed it. I compared it to the DV8400 and Denon 2900 at the time. For SACD it is great, more detailed, more natural and in my opinion better than the dv8400 and 2900, however it is NOT a universal player so not really a fair comparison. -

I currently have dvd-2200. I'm looking for a dedicated CD player and Marantz catches my eyes, but this one has sacd as well. I believe Marantz and Denon now are in the same company. Not sure how different on DAC on each brand.Comment

I believe the 8260 was designed prior to the 'buy-out'. But i'm not sure.
There is a difference as they do sound 'different'. Your best bet would be to demo them under the same conditions, i.e. cables, speakers, rooms....etc.Comment

I have had the oppertunity to have a dvd-2900 at my home. I have spend a good deal of Sunday and Monday on listening.
My goal was set like this :- I want a one box player who does dvd, cd, DVD-a, sacd

As some of you already know, Im not impressed with the performance with my new 1098 that I bought two days ago. Let me rephrase that.
