Which end is postive on capacitor???

I have these capacitors in my crossover:

I now have them built, and I'm wondering if I have them going the correct direction.

Is there a "+" and "-" to this style of cap?

You should be using NP caps, which do not have a + or -

If they do have polarity, they're marked rather clearly.

Polypropylene capacitors are non-polarized. You can use it in either direction.

Those are metallized film polypropylene capacitors- they do not have polarity, and you can connect them interchangeably. Electrolytic caps come in two versions; most are polarized, but NP types exist which are actually two polarized caps connected back to back. Not really a very nice way to make capacitors.

          Thanks!!!

Thanks to all, and this is good information for others that may have the same question.

I thought that was the case, but I was just checking to make sure.

For sure, I was just freaking out that my built and installed crossovers had the polarity incorrect. I havnt cpompleted the speakers yet. Came across this post and now I can relax. Thanks

LOL. I'm glad that this was helpful for you!

Make no bones about it, I'm no spark and wires guy, well, I'm a sparks guy, typically when I have it wrong!!! I absolutely know just enough to be dangerous with electricity!!!

              Have a great day!!

802D capacitor upgrade - A crazy idea or not?
                by ShadowZA
As I understand things (and I could be incorrect here) the 800D is unique in that it is the only one (of the old series) to use the M-Cap Supreme Silver/Gold capacitor for the all important midrange section of the crossover network. Both the 800D and 802D share the M-Caps for bass and the M-Cap Supreme...

                Capacitor and Resistor values...
                by lowark
I am building Dennis Murphy's wmtw center and have a question on the capacitor and resistor total values. On the mid crossover bom there is a 7.5 and 50uF capacitor which need to equal 57.5uF. Also, there is 10 and 7 ohm resistor which need to equal 17 ohm.

                I understand on capacitors...

Bypass capacitors - do they work?
                by mickster1972
I just finished building Dr. K's MTM (using the Dayton RS28a tweeter and RS180 midwoofer) from partsexpress.com -- I really like the sound. It is an improvement over the Dayton/VIFA MTM that was originally housed in my homemade 1.0 cu. ft. boxes.

Anyway, I am always hunting for my next...

                by Jonniebravo
I'm trying to complete the crossovers for my version of Chris & Brian's large RS 3way towers. I can't find some of the capacitors at the proper values. My questions are, can "Capacitors as well as Inductors" be wired In series or paralled to aguire the correct value and is the use of non-polarized...
