Paul Carmody Sprite Build - Carbon Fiber and Blue LED's

Paul Carmody Sprite Build - Carbon Fiber and Blue LED's
I'm in the process of building some Sprite speakers that were designed by Paul Carmody. I am planning to make them full Carbon Fiber, plexiglass and some blue LED's. So far, I am really pleased with the progress. The goal is for these to be built into a racing simulator I am building. I plan to continue to update this with pictures as I go along and I will have a full video build log as well as a video review on my YouTube channel when I finish. Here are a few photos of the first one which is almost complete.

So far I am really happy with them. And the one I just finished, sounds great!

TOID is where tech turns into adventure. I take projectors, home-theater gear, and other ambitious tech — and put them into story-driven challenges to uncover what they can actually do outside the spec sheet. From building a backyard drive-in theater in 4 days to testing whether viral Kickstarter projectors deserve the hype, every video blends problem-solving, suspense, and a little family chaos. These aren’t traditional reviews. They’re stories — packed with humor, tension, real stakes, and practical results — showing how technology performs when it’s pushed into real-life scenarios. If you love tech, builds, experiments, or the thrill of trying big ideas on tight deadlines… welcome to TOID.

Cool. I use carbon fiber professionally for structural concrete repairs. I've often contemplated using it for speakers. Can you provide some material sources and overall costs for the carbon fiber on your project.

I should have been a little more specific. This is actually just a carbon fiber vinyl wrap. I picked up the vinyl wrap of Amazon. It's Vivvid XP Pro. I ended up buying the trunk kit (5ft by 5ft) as I plan to use more of it on my racing arcade. Although, I often just get my vinyl wrap directly from aliexpress. It is quite a bit cheaper (but I was in a rush to get this done).

I finally finished them! Well in all honesty, I finished them about a week ago, but my editing software didn't want to comply. I went ahead and made a video so you can see exactly how I made it. Please ask if you have any questions, either here or youtube. hopefully this will be helpful to you guys.

By the way, I love the speakers! They are amazing!!!

Thought I would start a new thread to post my ideas, design & build process, and to field questions to and from you all. I built the Statement center several years back and plan to build a new box for it, most likely putting the new unshielded Dayton woofers in it. I am also going to be building...

          Anyway...

I have completed a set of finalists. These are not your standard finalists. I had to make some changes to them since I did not use the exact drivers required. Any changes made will have the necessary adjustments notated. Unfortunately, I do not have the room for them anywhere...

          Driver price sticker shock!
          by Jim Holtz
I’ve been playing with the Dayton RS series drivers for the past year and haven’t paid attention to the price of other drivers because of that focus. I’ve recently started to look at drivers suitable for a mid in my Fall/Winter project and I’m shocked at the price increases some of the drivers...
