They look fantastic! you might want to consider removing the woofers and giving that sliver of MDF you can see a coating of black to blend with the driver.

Soundemon ,
I notice that in the photo as well but in person you dont even see it. I think the camera flash accentuates it quite a bit.
I have listened to them at some moderately high volumes this morning and they do sound quite good. I am amazed at the bass these put out but the detailed sound stage is what really stands out.
Thanks again to Jim and Curt for an excellent design. !!!- Bottom

Fro,
The behringer isnt set up yet but it is for the sealed twins.
Wackii ,
The veneer came from tape-ease. I bought 2 full sheets and the grain happened to be a little different on one sheet , adds character imho.- Bottom

The longer you run them the better they will sound.

Very nice work! I'm really looking forward to your thoughts on how they sound. I posted this on original Statements thread, but I'll ask here since this seems more active. I'm thinking of building the Statements (the big guys) and wonder if they would make a good hard rock speaker? I know little of ribbon tweeters and wonder if they are better suited for classical music maybe?- Bottom

I'm building a set, and I listen to the very heaviest of music. I've got all of the crossover component and the bulk of the drivers on their way from PE. I'm going to be getting the MDF this weekend and hoping to get a bunch accomplished. I'm targeting a mid June completion for my Statements, not including veneer. Check out my thread for progress and listening impressions. Hi All After building my Recession buster kit, I've been looking for the next step and The statements are the ones for me! A great many of my questions are answered in the multitude of other build threads (great job everybody!) but I had a few: - For the center, is there a design currently (or in the works) using the sameDIY - once you start down that (dark) path, forever will it dominate your destiny!- Bottom

Thank you all for the kind words.
I have a few more hours on the Mini's now and I am seriously impressed with the detail they provide.
This is my first speaker with a ribbon . I find it to be very revealing but no harshness at all .
I have played a few cd's and sacd's as well as some demanding movie scenes and I am amazed at the imaging and broad sound stage.
I am sure that with several more hours of time these will open up even more.
For anyone debating on building a pair of these or the big brother Statements you wont be disappointed.- Bottom

I finally got around to doing a REW sweep on the sealed twins.
This is the initial graph with no eq and I havent yet gotten all my filters nailed down.
Man what a peak from @60-80 :E

This is my first post, but I'm a long time lurker. I've been looking for a good first project, but ruled out the Statement line because of the requirement (or so I thought) to place them out farther from the wall that I want.
How do yours sound up against the wall like that? I thought it was detrimental to the open mid-tunnel design. Forgive my ignorance if this is a dumb question...- Bottom

Ted , the backs of my Mini's are actually 24 inches from the wall. When I took the photos I had just got them in my room.- Bottom

The Mini's are pretty much broken in now and they really are amazing.
I finally got some eq filters set for my sealed twins. I have to work on a slight null from around 58 to 65 hz with sub placement but they are sounding good.

Hey Rightbrained, I was wondering about the down firing port in the mini's. Yours appear to be sitting flush on the floor without the 2" port clearance shown in the cabinet PDF. Are they finished, or are you still working on the bases? (I'm toying with the DIY speaker notion.)- Bottom

fordmaker ,
The ports are installed per the drawing. The base has a cutout in the back to allow for airflow . I do not have spikes installed but Jim had mentioned in another thread that there would be sufficient airflow without the spikes.- Bottom

by pierre666Hi you all,
I am still juggling with my next project choice. I have 2 candidates; Zaph's ZDT3.5 and Curt's Mini statement.
I know the the mini statement might be more expensive to build but I do not want to put that into consideration. If it is worth it, this speaker will...-
