10 Hz filter for sealed sub?

Hoping not to defeat the purpose of a sealed 2nd order roll-off transducer, i'm in search of a 10 Hz butterworth filter with a 12db/oct. slope.

I'm planning on a sealed 15" Tumult DIY sub...L/T'd with an adire ada-1200(watt) amp.

I've spoken with Brian Bunge and he has assured me of the tenacity of the Tumult driver but i'd like a little protection anyway.

I would prefer a passive inline design, but i'm not opposed to an active solution (if it's cost effective).

Any one with some expertise in this area is welcome to chime in...Thanks :T

I'd think this would help with power output and sound quality also during really brutal (read: War of the Worlds DVD) playback.

The 24dB Marchand crossovers are easily configurable for 12dB.
Have you done a WinISD/Unibox simulation to determine your power handling?

12dB passive filters are a bit tricky because of insertion losses and their dependance on the input impedance of the amp. The Furman Q-1311 EQ has a 10 Hz active 12dB filter for about $70 and it also does 1/3 octave graphic EQ.

Psst... if you really want to add this filter, just mod the one built into the ADA amps which is normally at 2Hz with a Q of 0.5.
