Had a great time Dan from Adire and Kevin from DIY Cable made the drive up and as usual Dan had a few minutes to display his talents in the design theory and those who sat down really enjoyed listening to why the man from Adire does what he does.

Thanks to all those who made the day a great time.

          Ribbon

A ribbon tweeter is a type of high-frequency transducer used in loudspeakers to reproduce the treble and upper midrange frequencies. It is called a "ribbon" tweeter because its diaphragm is typically a thin, narrow strip of metal foil or film that resembles a ribbon. The ribbon diaphragm is suspended in a magnetic field, and when an electrical current passes through it, it vibrates back and forth to produce sound. This design comes with several advantages:

For those following my project, I decided to go with a shorter Mid/tweet panel 19.5" wide x 18" tall with a 6" floor instead of the 19.5" x 24" with side panels. BDS and my cardboard work showed very little difference between these two designs and the...

Recently there were discussions in a thread about repairing/replacing the ribbon elements in Fountek ribbons so I decided to email Madisound and find out what it cost to replace the elements. I recieved a prompt reply from Josh stating that the only charge for repair was the price of the element and...

Why wouldn't a ribbon based MTM be ideal for home theater
          by indygreg
been reading a number of posts and was curious why an MTM using a ribbon like a raven would not be ideal for home theater? the downside to the ribbons is their lack of vertical dispersion but that is a big plus for home theater.
